About Raja-Nee

Raja-Nee is an R&B/neo-soul songstress hailing from Chicago. She got her start performing in the church at the tender age of five. Her voice caught the attention of Marshall Thompson of Chicago’s infamous Chi-Lites. The mentor-mentee relationship led to her touring with the band and recording on their 1990 album, Just Say You Love Me.

Raja-Nee eventually embarked on a musical career of her own. Working with producers extraordinaire Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, which finally garnered her a recording contract under A&M/Perspective Records imprint. She released her debut reggae/dancehall album, January 1994’s Hot & Ready, which featured hit singles, “Bitchism,” “Take Your Time,” and “Turn It Up,” which appeared on the soundtrack of the Keenan Ivory Wayans 1994 hit comedy movie, A Low Down Dirty Shame.

Raja-Nee recently released her long-awaited second album, The Sovereign of 14742, on October 31, 2022 via Jarf Music Group. The inspiration behind the album’s title stems from her family history and early upbringing in Harvey, Illnois.
