About RoeShamBeaux

In a landscape where innovation meets culture, labeling it’s own respective definition of “art”, hip-hop comes face to face with it’s own unbalance – or rather, offered a more introspective look into both its' vices and purity, through the words of MC JayTheHomie, blended with the sounds of producer Mikey Sol.

Based in Northern Virginia, the duo’s origins date back to 2011. After a number of collaborations, the newly-christened ‘RoeShamBeaux’ released their first project as a unit, “White Rabbit”, in 2012. Their debut effort gained the attention of many ears in the NOVA area and amassed a steady following of fans, both within the region and beyond. Not to be content with the buzz of temporary success, Jay and Mikey would put their focus on redefining their sound and building the foundation of what was to come: another critically acclaimed project, titled “Black”, released in 2014. In a radical and sonically-changed pace from ‘White Rabbit’, Black’s themes of depression, ailment, and longing were the first signs of contrast; internally and stylistically for the duo. The haunting lyricism of JayTheHomie, delivered over the brooding production of Mikey Sol, were perhaps the first inclination of the groups’ rising underground appeal, to a new generation of listeners.

Having proven to be maturing artists capable of shifting contemporary rap boundaries, the group next sought to test their limits on a broader, yet much more unforgiving platform – mainstream music. RoeShamBeaux opted to swing for the fences and produce their most idiosyncratic project yet – ‘Woody Harrelson’, released in 2015. Featuring elements from both of their prior releases, the LP is a noticeable upgrade on all pillars previously implemented by it’s creators. Upbeat dance singles “Do Dat” and “I Wanna Sex You Up” (featuring fellow NOVA artist Kalman Weinstein) sound at home on the radio, while more mellow tracks such as “Fifa & 40’s” offer the contemporary vibes that ‘RoeShamBeaux’ first became known for.
