Roger O'Donnell

Born October 29, 1955, Roger O'Donnell is an English musician, best known as the keyboardist for post-punk band, The Cure. He joined as a touring member in 1987, but replaced founding member, Lol Tolhurst in 1989 as an official member when he was fired for his alcoholism. He has left and rejoined the band on multiple occasions but has stayed and played in the band since 2011.

In 2019, Cure founder Robert Smith shared:

Roger, he’s been in and out of the band over the years so is slightly more volatile, but he’s calmed down remarkably. I think the secret is age, if I’m being perfectly honest. It takes an awful lot of effort when you get older to get irritated and agitated by really silly things because your perception of time changes and everything is relative. You realize that there isn’t that much time left. Not just as individuals, but for the band. Fucking it up for stupid reasons is not an option any more. When you’re young, you explode, you beat each other and all of those things. But it would be really, really boring to do those things as a more mature individual.
