About Sasha Alex Sloan

Alexandra Artourovna Yatchenko, (b. March 11, 1995), better known by her stage name Sasha Alex Sloan (previously Sasha Sloan) is an American singer-songwriter. She grew up in Boston, Massachusetts, and studied at Berklee School of Music for a year before moving to Los Angeles in 2014 to become a songwriter for Warner Chappell Music.

She has co-written with artists such as Charli XCX (“Track 10”) and Camila Cabello (“Never Be the Same”) while also providing vocals on Kygo’s “This Town” and Odesza’s “Falls.”

In October 2017, she stepped out on her own with her debut single “Ready Yet” prior to releasing her first EP sad girl on April 18, 2018. In a Billboard interview, Sasha said of the song:

It’s like my first child. I have a very complicated relationship with my dad, and the night before I wrote that song, we were talking. We just haven’t really gotten along over the years. He was apologizing for some stuff, and I was apologizing for some stuff, and he was saying, “I’d love to reconnect.” And I remember just being like, “I’m not ready yet.”

A second EP, Loser, was released on November 29, 2018, which was followed by her first headline tour. In 2019, she made her late-night television debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert performing the track “Older” from the Loser EP. Later that year, she released a third EP, Self Portrait.

In 2020, she moved to Nashville. After much anticipation, her debut album, Only Child would be released in October of that year. A sophomore album, I Blame The World, came two years later.

On March 27, 2023, she announced that she is now an independent artist via her social media platforms, confirming a split with RCA Records, the record label under which she released all her previous projects. Her third album, Me Again, will be her first project since this announcement.
