Mark Stewart a.k.a Stew (born August 16, 1961), is an American singer-songwriter and playwright from Los Angeles, CA. In the early ‘90s, he formed a four-piece band called The Negro Problem and went on to have a solo career in the early 2000s.

Stew wrote the book, lyrics, and music (with Heidi Rodewald) for his semi-autobiographical rock musical Passing Strange, which was produced with the support of the Sundance Institute and The Public Theater. Stew won a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lyrics and a Tony Award in 2008 for Best Book for the show.
