Teck-Zilla is a Nigerian born emcee/beatmaker/producer/DJ/Writer. A founding member of the Hip-hop group “Str8Buttah” with members in the UK and Nigeria. After moving from the UK to Canada, Teck-Zilla has proceeded to work with like-minded artists in Montreal. As a producer/beatmaker, he has worked with a vast array of emcees from Nigeria, Canada, USA, Kazakhstan amongst other countries. His previous works include the critically acclaimed “Full Script” mixtape with Zambian Hip-hop group ZoneFam, the seminal “Brand New Masquerade” with London based MC & Str8Buttah Member Mister Rae and 3 other albums with artists from Nigeria(Fecko The Emcee), Kazakhstan (Whiteman-The Blacksoul), Zambia (The Holstar) amongst various production & mixing credits.
Other solo projects include a Hip-Hop remix of Fela Kuti’s collaborative album(LIVE!) with British drummer, Ginger Baker, which also serves as an audio documentary, An audio discourse Afro J.E.T.S Club Project, a dubstep/hip hop EP titled “Chicken & Chips, Crackers & Cranberry Juice”
He picked up the DJ bug in Montreal while watching local DJ legends like Dj Lady Oracle, God Father dee, Scott C displaying their skills on the wheels of steel and he has gone ahead to DJ for artists like Dessy Dilauro on her album launch in Montreal and Dice B during the annual Urban Festival held in Trois Rivieres amongst other gigs.
As a writer, he has covered shows by Black Milk, Sean Price, Camp Lo, tech N9ne etc and also interviewed artists such as Masta Ace, Cappadonna, Jeru The Damaja, Big Rapper Pooh, TY, Dudley Perkins and Georgia Anne Muldrow.
His discography includes a compilation album titled Audio Chemistry(which featured Modenine, Canibus, Big Rapper Pooh, AQ, and others) and also a slew of instrumental projects starting with Souled Off: A Dedication To Molly Molls, Son Of Sade EP with the most recent one being Joe Jackson Kids. In the Nigerian scene, he recently dropped a collaborative project with Lagos based rapper Fecko titled Afrobeat, Rhythm & Truth(A.R.T) and just released 2 EPs with fast-rising afro-soul singer Maka and femcee Phlow (Hennessy Vs Class 2015 runner up) on Str8buttah Productions.
