The Freshies were a lo-fi power-pop outfit who never managed to really make it big outside the Greater Manchester area. Contemporaries of the Buzzcocks, they self-released a series of albums, EPs and singles featuring fuzzy guitar and self-deprecating, slightly melancholy lyrics by frontman Chris Sievey (better known for his work as Frank Sidebottom). The band broke up in the early 80s, but have since released a Greatest Hits compilation and briefly reunited following Sievey’s death in 2010.
