Thirdstory is a trio of singers consisting of Ben Lusher, Richard Saunders and Elliot Skinner. Lusher and Saunders met years ago during a music program in Miami and became friends with Skinner in 2014 after a New York event.

The group began as YouTube content creators, providing covers of various pop songs on their channel. Their first post was a cover of Sam Smith’s I’m Not The Only One in December 2014, which notably caught the attention of Smith’s pianist. After releasing some more covers, Thirdstory garnered enough attention to be asked to open for Tori Kelly’s Unbreakable Tour.

In May 2016, they released a 3 track EP entitled Searching, and in December of that same year, they ended up appearing on SNL with Chance the Rapper. In fact, Chance enjoyed working with Thirdstory so much that, just under a year after the release of their first EP, they announced they would be joining Chance on his 2017 Be Encouraged Tour.

In the midst of working on their first official LP, the group joined Chance on a few other performances, gaining exposure, experience, and some essential connections in the industry. They can be seen singing in Chance’s NPR Tiny Desk Concert, and even singing background (with Skinner also playing bass) for Chance’s television premier of First World Problems with Daniel Caesar on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Thirdstory finally released their long-awaited first full length album Cold Heart on March 9th, 2018, through Verve Label Group, a division of Universal Music Group. The album notably has features from Chance-the-Rapper-collaborator Eryn Allen Kane and G.O.O.D. Music President Pusha T.
