Wes

Wes Madiko (born January 15, 1964 – died June 25, 2021), better known mononymously as Wes, was a Cameroonian musician. He was probably best known among Western audiences for his version of “Upendi” (a song from the soundtrack of “The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride”), as well as work with Deep Forest, and his own 1997 hit “Alane” produced by Michel Sanchez.
As of late 2010 up until the present, he was working on a new project with electronic composer and producer Paul Kwitek. In 2013, Wes Madiko became Africa’s Ambassador for Michael Jackson’s Family Foundation.
