West Texas Rednecks

About West Texas Rednecks

The West Texas Rednecks were a professional wrestling power stable in WCW in 1999. They were formed by Minnesotan Curt Hennig as a counter to Master P’s The No Limit Soldiers (which included Rey Misterio Jr. and Konnan), and included actual Texans Bobby Duncum Jr., Barry Windham and Kendall Windham, and African-American wrestler Curly Bill (formerly Virgil in WWE and Vincent of the NWO, real name Mike Jones). The expectation was that the Rednecks would be the heels (bad guys) and that the Soldiers would be the good guys. Instead, WCW’s audience firmly rejected the NLS and supported the Rednecks. The gimmick created trouble in the WCW offices dividing people along racial lines, and was dropped in September 1999. Barry and Kendall were 1x WCW World Tag Team Champions.
