In 2005 Will Swan and fellow friend Eric Lodge recruited four friends to form the band Dance Gavin Dance, and to this day is one of the two remaining original members. With Dance Gavin Dance, he has released one EP and eight LPs, with a ninth LP expected June 8, 2018, all released through Rise Records. In order they are Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean (2006), Downtown Battle Mountain (2007), Dance Gavin Dance (2008), Happiness (2009), Downtown Battle Mountain II (2011), Acceptance Speech (2013), Instant Gratification (2015), Tree City Sessions (2016), Mothership (2016), and Artificial Selection (2018). On every album he is featured as the lead guitarist and one of the primary composers, and since Happiness he has picked up doing rap vocals on a few songs.
In 2013 Swan created and launched his own independent record label called Blue Swan Records and has since signed bands such as Eidola, Wolf and Bear, and Icarus the Owl, along with his two other bands Sianvar and Secret Band.
Secret Band was formed in 2011 with other Dance Gavin Dance members as a way to write music without former lead singer Jonny Craig involved.
Sianvar in a post-hardcore “supergroup” formed in 2013 consisting of members from other bands. It is a side project that has released one EP and one LP.
