William Stafford was born in Kansas in 1914. He published his first collection of poems, Traveling Through the Dark, when he was 46 years old.
William Stafford’s style is often referred to as “plain spoken,” as he liked to describe worldly in experiences in a straightforward and accessible ways.
He was also a pacifist and a teacher.
