Anybody dislike Eazy E? (Back to the forum)

Am I the only person who doesn’t like Eazy E at all? He wasn’t that great of a rapper and he didn’t write a lot of lyrics on top of it. He was very limited on the mic. He had shock value, but that’s about it. He only performed Boyz In the Hood because there was nobody there who could rap it, so they made him go in the booth and say it even though he didn’t know how to rap. Dre said they punched that song in, line by line, and it took 9 hours. I just don’t think Eazy E was any good. |

I agree with that 100%, but I can’t lie, him riding alongside the cop car in the Straight Outta Compton video saying “smother your mother, make your sister think i love her” is hilarious lol |

Yep, never been a fan. I’ve listened to NWA before and ‘E just drags the whole thing down for me, his style… just doesn’t appeal to me at all. His lyrical ability never impressed me, especially considering he didn’t write the majority of his own material. And IMO he doesn’t have a great flow or delivery to back up his weaknesses either. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one here who thinks this though. |

He always has the same flow and is says the same thing in every song. Lol. Dr. Dre said Eazy was the character of the group. They all had their roles but he was the character. He was a good business man and what not, but he just was not good at rapping. He’s a legend because all of NWA is And his son, Lil Eazy E? Lol come on man. Way to make your own path in the industry |

And you still can’t mention West Coast Hip-Hop without menioning Eazy, besides pretty sure he wrote his lyrics on It’s on 187um Killa So stop hating on son him & his real cronies MURKED Dr Dre Besides they all had street cred “See I did dirt, put in work, and many niggas can vouch that, but niggas like you, I gotta hate ya' cause I’m just ; tired of suburban niggas talking about they come from projects” Tbh in my eyes, and in the eyes of many from the West Dre never recovered from that shit. And btw You know that dude who spit that last verse, B.G Knocc Out? He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for Attempted Murder THATS THAT REAL MUTTHAPHUCKIN G’S |

When NWA broke-up Eazy-E should’ve just called it quits right there instead of releasing those mediocre solo albums and completely biting Dre’s Chronic style. RIP a legend tho |

Eazy-E was the business man and one of the founders of Reality Rap. You know…the stuff that everyone make millions of dollars on today. He founded the West Coast market by being the leader of NWA. He was true til the death of Gangsta Rap. Without Eazy-E’s leadership, there would be no:
As far as mic control. Yes, Eazy was not nice on the mic. But he was clear and had charisma. His voice was distinct and he wasn’t wack by any means. “Real Mutha…G’s” was dope and he was dope on it. I rank him around and above Puffy as far as front men grabbing the mic. Not too far from Dre either on my spit list either. |

I agree with everything you said except Eazy > Dre. Honestly, I hold absolutely no respect for fake niggas. If thats the life you live and you want to rap about it go for it, i can alway respect some good music for the streets man that’s evident by the fact i admire cassidy or papoose or young jeezy or Game etc. But what I dont' like is a nigga who switches from wearing lipstick, to smoking on chronic at pick-nicks. Or a nigga who steals a criminals' identity and makes millions when he was a fucking correctional officer. I think reputation matters tbh, and even if i’m the only one you’ll never catch me bumping something that’s so blatantly fake, and tried to play off as real. |

The difference between Dre & Easy for me is that I actually enjoy listening to Dre’s music. Regardless of if Dre uses a ghost writer or not, he’s still a dope producer, and his flow isn’t bad, I’d take a The Chronic or a 2001 over a Easy-Duz-It any day of the week. |

Seriously though, and I’m not downing him at all because he is doing his thing and is doing EXTREMELY well commercially, but people are downing Eazy E, yet Chief Keef is a terrible rapper that stands for a movement of violence, and no one is complaining. Like, Eazy and NWA came out and changed the game to usher in gangster rap. Chief Keef and his crew are mobbin out, murdering people and beating up women, and people are almost acting like everyone should say he’s a good rapper because “he’s young and he is really about that life”. Eazy E’s legacy was legendary and is over and done. R.I.P. But do we really need a Cheif Keef in the rap game? I respect the FUCK out of Keef’s grind and rise, but it’s not for me. I’m tired of technically horrible rappers blowing up and people giving them excuses for being bad. The chorus for Love Sosa barely even rhymed. But yet, people bag Wayne for “falling off”. Like, at what point is being a bad rapper OK is the better question. |

How is he the godfather of gangsta rap while he was saying CUBE’s RHYMES? They were saying the same shit, except Ice Cube was actually writing his words, and he was doing it BEFORE Eazy E was. Eazy E is the godfather of getting bitches. Cool. Ice Cube was the one who sparked all the political messages. NWA was not the godfathers or pioneers of any certain style of music. They just did it bigger than anybody who came before them. The first ‘gangsta rapper’ was Schoolly D from Philadelphia who came out in ‘84. Ice T dropped “6 In Tha Morning” in 1986, and he got the idea from that track from…..Schoolly D. 2 YEARS LATER, NWA released Straight Outta Compton, the Geto Boyz release Making Trouble. The difference between NWA is that they were bigger than anybody at the time. Their music found it’s way to the suburbs, so everybody heard it. But when Schoolly D did it, and when Ice T was making that record with the original narrative of gangsta rap, it wasn’t getting spins in the suburbs, it was on the streets. the footprints for gangsta rap were set 4 years before NWA came out. They didn’t invent it, none of them were the “godfathers” of it. They were just the most popular at the time, and Ice Cube deserves all the credit for that. They were big because of the content of the rhymes, and the messages, and Ice Cube was the one behind it all. |
