Saints Row 3 sucked, it was too fucking stupid and over the top and forgot what made the first 2 great and this looks like it’s going to take that shit to a whole new level, SR2 is one of my favorite open world games of all time, it was funny but had it’s serious moments and had a great story. SR3 was good for like the first 2 hours then turned into a game with cheap gimmicks and shit writing they obviously wanted to appeal to a bigger audience. SR2 > SR3 anyday |

^Holy shit. You successfully summed up my exact feelings over this. SR2 had sooo much more content and replay value, I could barely get through 3 once. |

I think the developers know they cannot compete with Rockstar to make a serious action-adventure open world game so they started to veer down the fun driven gimmicky path. |

Completely agree with Jacob. I know it wasn’t the best made game in the world, but the fact is I had the most fun and spent the most time of any game on Saints Row 2 so for me personally it’s my favourite game. Then The Third came along and fucked everything up, played the story (which was absolute crap in comparison to 1&2’s) and traded it in. |

Still have a feeling GTA V will be goat, judging the trailers it looks fucking crazy, jumping off trains, driving cars out of planes and having dogfights with fighter jets (loved having dogfights in SA) and BANK HEISTS!. September cant come fast enough |

GTA IV my Goat game. Then Vice City. But Saints Row 2 I played for more than 50 Hours(Got That Achivement) over a span of 3-4 years. Third was still a blast. Didn’t play it as much as the Second. I’m not one to give to shits about anything besides if it’s fun. And Saints Row is fun. |

This game looks awful tbh. I mean, it seems like it’s just playing into the gimmicks that were apart of SR3! Enough with this futuristic crap. There were no street gangs in SR3, wrestlers, space guys, and some mafia dudes… The customization was nice for creating the character (although the hairstyles were weak), cars were aiight… but damn, SR2 had better everything except for graphics. And SR4 looks like it will be worse then SR3 in every way as well. I hope not though… seriously, I hope not. I mean I could rant on and on about SR3, there were some decent things but this trailer makes SR4 look awful. GTA needs to work on it’s customization, because GTA’s gameplay is on-point. There creativity level for players though sucks. |

The thing that was so great about 2 is that it picked off where I believe GTA: San Andreas left off, it had the fun and realistic gameplay while at the same time had really unique, funny, and cool shit you could do at the same time(GTA IV is where they started to make things based a lot more around realism, I have no problem with that as IV was boss as fuck, but still). Throw in the benefits of a shit load of customization, content, bonus activities, and a damn-near infinitely repayable story and you had one of my favorite games of all time. SR3 was just THQ trying their damndest to be as “not GTA” as fucking possible, to the point where they basically limited SR3’s gameplay to where the only shit you could do was goofy shit to get by, except this “over the top wacky” shit was ultimately not fun at ALL. The actual gameplay become really clunky and for the most part completely unbearable, there were hardly any bonus activites, customization was horribly limited, and for whatever reason all the game’s returning characters got overhauled into despicable jackasses, and the only character that didn’t suffer from this was Johhny Gat, AND HE FUCKING DIES 5 MINUTES IN, and gets no real resolution to his character, despite being the protagonist’s right hand man the entirety of the series. I know I’m raging at this but SR2 is one of my favorite games of all time, and THQ basically took that, sexually abused it and throw the dumpster baby product of that abuse into a package, and called it Saints Row 3. /rage as fuck |

Fun Fact: This was originally gonna be DLC for SR3 but THQ decided to postpone and turn it into the fourth game, which is why it looks exactly like SR3. I get the feeling that they’re rushing this one out before GTA V because they know everyone would rather buy that |

tbh, I loved all of the saints row games equally, I love the over the top SR3 because it was trying to set itself apart and away from GTA. It was trying to not be a copy of an already existing game which I feel they did a great job at, I personally loved SR3 more than SR 2 and I think it was because of the over the top absurdity in the game, I mean, I must’ve spent hours, and I mean HOURS running down the streets with my purple dildo smashing dumbasses heads in lol! I mean, I love SR2 but SR3 I think was also a very great game. I think you guys are judging it for not sticking to the same routine, where’s the fun in that? Try something new, be original, distancing themselves and becoming their own, I applaud them for SR3 and I will probably do the same for SR4 |

@Krypt, your point is valid and makes sense, but they then should make a new series all together with similiar mechanics, like Red Dead Redemption is similar to GTA in many ways, but the theme is much different. When I buy Saints Row, I am buying it because I want a street gang game, not a futuristic “gang” game. |

I don’t know Rich, I feel like it’s still the same street gang game, if you paid attention in the beginning of the SR3, it explained how the 3rd Street Saints became a huge commercial success, I feel it fits within the story and makes sense very well. I think the only problem with the Saints games is that the jump in tech and story kind of from SR2 to SR3 was a bit big, but I feel that if they put a game in the middle to really make it all make sense and everything, it wouldn’t have done as well and would’ve been crazy difficult to keep the game alive next to GTA, SR and SR2 were already compared to GTA, if they put a game out in the middle of SR2 to SR3, the SR series would’ve been buried and forgotten about by the GTA series. I feel the jump was necessary and very well done for how they went about it and while starting a new game series was probably the smart thing to do, they left the end of SR2 very open for a sequel but if they didn’t distance themselves like they did with SR3, the series would’ve flopped and fallen under as a “copycat” of GTA. The jump was necessary, they didn’t want to leave the story open like that and for how they changed it and did it, I feel they did a good job imo. You know? |
