This song has nothing to do with death, its a metaphor for dreams. Its about losing someone close to you, and only being able to see them when you’re asleep. Those moments are so precious you don’t ever want to wake up, so you’re asking the person you’re dreaming about not to do anything that would make the dream end — don’t fall, don’t cry, don’t make a sound. And we will never die alone — we’ll never wake up without each other.

The Silence wasn’t intended to be a party song. I wanted to write a track that spoke to the unvarnished experience of modern club life. The lyrics follow a girl through the club, from the bar to the crowd to the table to the bathroom; from solitude to the sweaty socialism of the dancefloor. The Silence isn’t literally silence; its the experience of masking pain with so many stimuli that pain disappears in a sea of white noise. Its about the feeling of being so consumed by bodies and substances and deafening music that your mind achieves a spiritual numbness. That’s the silence that washes over you. Not everyone in a club is there to escape like that, but a lot are. Its a dirty secret of glamorous night life no one really talks about. Beneath all the flowing champagne and glitz of those facebook poses is a lot of repressed sadness.

So much bullshit in rap. You got this, you got that. Half the shit you say you got you rented for the video. Illusion shit. Its like you can’t be happy unless ur spending 20 grand a night in the club with people you don’t know who could give a fuck about you. Fuck that. I’m happy spendin $20 on red cups and cheap booze with my friends

I feel bad jumpin in on Chris’s verse, but I know this one. Chris is from east San Diego where the 805 freeway is, but he’s an LA transplant where the 405 is the major freeway.

this is a shout to Dorrough out of Dallas, “Wired to the T” is just like going all out. “no Pain” is a double entendre — like no pain in the literal sense, and then “no Pain” (like T-Pain) — as in without the autotune. this track originally had crazy autotune but I hated it and stripped it out

toyota was having this problem where people would get the gas pedal stuck when they pushed it all the way down. but you gotta take risks if you want to make it — let the pedal drop even if that means you could crash and burn
