A reference and a play on one of Hip Hop’s most well known lines, by Nas on N.Y. State of Mind:

I never sleep, cause sleep is the cousin of death

Fits with the next line which is also a reference to an old line, if you dont stay awake to the ways of the world, you won’t survive.

A play on Wu-Tang Clan’s 1993 Classic, C.R.E.A.M.:

Cash rules everything around me:
CREAM, get the money
Dollar, dollar bill y'all

Monch doesn’t have the same prespective Wu Tang has. the initials to this song, D.R.E.A.M, are changed because he switched “Cash” with “Destiny”, keeping the line about “money” and “dollar bills” means that destiny runs everything around him including money, it runs the world.

Also notice how puts the acronym for D.R.E.A.M. together:

destiny rules everything around me

Monch also played with this concept on the song “The Ass” from Internal Affairs.

A reference to Inspectah Deck’s line on Wu-Tang Clan’s 1993 classic C.R.E.A.M.:

And stay awake to the ways of the world cause shit is deep

It is not the first time Talib is sampling this line. in 2000, Collaborating with DJ Hi-Tek as Reflection Eternal, the hook sampled the same line.

Talib is coming straight from the hard, black neighborhood, making a reference to The Loch Ness Monster, a cryptid, a creature whose existence has been suggested but is not discovered or documented by the scientific community.

This song is very possibly a sequel to Where Do We Go, which also featured Res.

What’s real, blood spills, gun kill, the sun still — rise

"The stakes is three feet high and risin' like De La Soul" (Reflection Eternal – Soul Rebels) | accepted

"I had dreams of fuckin' a R&B bitch like Mya" (Game – Dreams) | accepted

dreams of fuckin a r&b bitch'

is originally used by Biggie on his unreleased track Dreams, and later on by 50 Cent on his 1999 song How to Rob. the game simply used it with the same flow.
Also, Bizarre used this line too, only he said: >dreams of fucking a handicapped bitch

on D12’s Nasty Mind.

"Braveheart y'all" (Nas – Warrior Song) | accepted

nas is highly associated with the hip hop groput “bravehearts”, containing his younger brother, jungle, and their cousin, nashawn. nas always gives them shoutouts and even got a tattoo of the duo’s name on his chest (was a group, only 2 left now).

"[Refrain x2]" (Nas – Destroy and Rebuild) | accepted

yup, nas also did the same thing on ether
When he responded to jay z’s takeover using change the game’s last sentence by the same jay z: I WILL NOT LOSE
