Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners is an independent folk/alt rock band based in Colorado consisting of longtime friends Mitch Cutts, Nic Haughn, Jakob Ervin, and Ryan Lavallee. The self-taught band was informally founded in 2015 after Nic & Mitch got way too good at guitar hero and decided to start learning real instruments.


Cutts & Haughn began writing their debut album RMCM in late 2016 and recorded the album in a small closet in Haughn’s basement for two months in 2017. After the release of the project upon their high school graduation in May 2017, their efforts continued to come to life with the release of their sophomore album Solstice. Solstice was written by the band over long-distance while they attended different colleges – they met at home over break and recorded/mixed the album in its entirety in 16 days.

Currently, the band members are preparing to release their third album, Subliming, which they consider to be their very best work yet.
