Ewing Patrick = Patrick Ewing

Patrick Ewing was the center of the New York Knicks for 15 years (1985-2000) and was known for defensive stats. Ewing is 6th on the all time NBA stats for blocks (2894 blocks).

Mick plays with the meaning of the word block, meaning as a stat for basketball, but also for your neighborhood.

Subtle word play..

Floor = flo' = flow

The flow is clean like a clean floor, but Mick doesn’t mop any flo’s.

If Wiki was too high to take the train (a possible place to be harassed by security, as mention in Remove Ya), he would walk around the the city.

Wiki also paints some vivid imagery about some of the places he would walk in New York City.

“Some where killers have been slain” could be talking about gang members who kill, who have been killed by other gang members.

“Others where killing have been made
Buildings have been raised”

Is referencing places like Wall Street, where people have made millions playing stocks and have made their own businesses come alive.

A rather clever line from Mick that references the 19 year basketball veteran John Stockton, who received the nickname The Mailman for his ability to assist (delivering the ball to someone else so they score, kind of like a mailman).

John Stockton is also the all time assist and steals leader in the NBA, averaging 10 assists throughout his career.

“Putting vendettas in the letters for the mail” could be referencing the 2001 Anthrax attacks that killed five people.

Mick is saying, what ever you do, the reason should be to elevate your self, or do yourself better.

So, if you do smoke weed, don’t get too high because you are not helping your self or your long term elevation.

Mick is a Chicago native, and is referencing the song Through The Wire by Chicago artist Kanye West, who literally spit his rap through the wires that wired his jaw shut after he was in a car accident.

The pinky ring is a status symbol for made men of the American Mafia. Mick is probably referencing The Sopranos or The Godfather series.

There is actually about 8.3 million people who live in New York City (fun fact, 2.5 million of those people live in Brooklyn).

Either way, there’s so many different stories and life tales from the people who live in NYC, almost as many as the change you lose in a couch or a futon.

"Everybody got one, your mom's is a asshole" (Captain Murphy – Between Villains) | pending

Also, everyone has a Mom, I think that was the word play, everyone has one asshole and one biological mom, its just ironic that your mom is the asshole.

"Until I get my 97 / Benz, I'm selling dope" (Vince Staples – 102) | pending

the 97 Benz is a status symbol from some of Vince’s favorite rappers like Pac

"Hearing him say cuz turned us to a fan, nigga" (ScHoolboy Q – Hoover Street) | rejected

“Cuz” is also associated with family. Gangs and how they relate to younger people is how the Gang is a family to the young child, or stability where stability isn’t present else where. “Cuz” could have turned Q to a fan because he knew it was more than a gang, but rather a family.

"My uncle doing life, inside prison he wasn't wrapped too ..." (Kendrick Lamar – The Heart Pt. 2) | pending

Also, Kendrick dedicates an entire verse for his Uncle in Uncle Bobby & Jason Keaton.

"He must have been saving the best bum" (Isaiah Rashad – Banana) | rejected

I think the line may be “saving the best bump” as in cocaine. It makes sense with the next line as well.

"My daddy taught me how to lease (leave) somebody" (Isaiah Rashad – Hereditary) | accepted

@salgotchips @gregrusche I understand what you guys are saying, but, really listen to the line, there is a “s” emphasize when he says “lease”. it may not be lease, but its for sure not leave.

"If I were a book, I would bend" (Pink Floyd – If) | pending

Can you be more specific? I’m not sure what you’re suggesting.

"Ballers, I put numbers on the boards / Can't a bitch livi..." (Pusha T – Numbers On The Boards) | rejected

I sometimes look at this line has that there isn’t a “living” bitch that say that he bought her Michael Kors… like “if you tell em, i’ll have to kill you” type shit, cause shes a hood rat or something.

"Rad with a bad diagnose" (Yung Lean – Kyoto) | accepted

I disagree with everything you said, his name “Lean” is from his actual name “Leandoer”. You’re making it sound like Yung Lean is a drug addict or something….

That first clip, Lillard sounded like Vince Staples
