About thuy

Bay Area R&B singer, Thuy, marked her debut in stunning fashion with her first radio record, “Hands on Me.” The record gained widespread support in her Bay Area community after winning KMEL 106.1’s Home Turf contest and cemented her first step into pop-R&B success.

Raised with a rich Vietnamese heritage, Thuy was surrounded by music growing up. Whether it was singing karaoke with family or on the stoops of her childhood home in Oakland, CA, nothing else made her happier. Like many ‘90s babies, she treasured pop idols Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, and at 9, she knew she wanted to be a pop star. However, with no idols to look up to who looked like her, Thuy scraped her dreams and instead focused on school, eventually entered the medical field.

Growing up, I listened to artists that didn’t look like me. People experience heartbreak and pain in different ways, but I never saw anyone who looked like me deliver that message.

After struggling with the fear of not only letting her parents down with her lackluster pursuit in the medical field but also letting herself down for not fulfilling her own dreams, Thuy finally decided to pursue her passion. After a chance visit to a studio session with friends, Thuy opened her eyes to what a professional career in music could look like, and in no short time, recorded “Hands on Me.”

Since then, the now Los Angeles-based artist has released several records showcasing her angelic voice and modern R&B stylings and amassing over 40 million streams worldwide. Released in 2017, Thuy’s most commercially successful track to date, “All Night Long,” gained a resurgence in 2020 after a viral moment proved that Thuy’s celestial voice and knack for earworm melodies was here to stay.
