Kanye was deeply affected by the passing of his mother Donda in 2007 and the hate he got after the Taylor Swift incident at the VMAs. In interviews before the release of his album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and in songs on the album, Kanye noted he had suicidal thoughts. He indicates by “what kinda talk is that?” he’s since abandoned those thoughts.
He pronounces suicide like “shoe-icide.” Ye probably dealt with his depression with reckless shopping habits — think back to College Dropout.
