I just want to know if my father would ever like me
But I don't give a fuck, so he's probably just like me
Tyler doesn’t have a good (or any) relationship with his father, but still occasionally yearns for his approval. He then snaps back to reality, realizing that he doesn’t care and probably picked up this “I don’t give a fuck” attitude from his Dad (who obviously didn’t give a fuck about Tyler, since he left)
This shows a brief flash of empathy for his father’s actions, but also shows the hatred that Tyler has for his father handing down such a personality trait
This is another paradox, which is no surprise considering that this whole song is a paradox.
