I'm dressed in all black, this is not for the fan of Elvis

from Big Sean (Ft. Jay Electronica & Kendrick Lamar) – Control Lyrics on Rap Genius

Meaning

This line references Elvis Presley, who was a massively successful musician, but he was also famous for quite a few other things, one being his white jumpsuit.

However, seeing as Kendrick is wearing all black, it’s the complete opposite of what Elvis fans might enjoy.

This line also has deep racial implications. There is much speculation, especially among the African American community, that Elvis stole many elements of traditional African American music, and was a racist in the process. Chuck D even spoke to this accusation on “Fight the Power”

Elvis was a hero to most
But he never meant shit to me you see
Straight up racist that sucker was
Simple and plain

Although Chuck D would later backtrack on those views it seems that Kendrick still isn’t feeling “the King’s” music. Kendrick himself has also alluded to his disdain of Elvis before on the 2011 BET Cypher in which he said:

I’m 2012 on a 12 inch, aimin' straight for your pelvis
Elvis would come back as a black if you was hot
