Guerillas in tha Mist Lyrics

[Hook: Samples]
VOO-DOO, runnin from my magic!
Guerillas in Tha Mist, uh
VOO-DOO, runnin from my magic!
Guerillas in tha Mist (Uh)

[Verse 1]
Come down and beware of the black fist
The guerillas straight motherfucking killers in tha Mist
Take a shot (Buck buck) but you can't whore us
Never thought you'd see South Central niggas in the forest
Don't kick in the chorus just yet
'Cause we ain't made a mess yet
Lench Mob produce the best yet
Comin' real hard man, bumpin' in your car man
Finally caught up with a devil named Tarzan
Swingin' on a vine, suckin' on a piece of swine
Jiggaboo come up from behind
Hit him with a coconut, stab him in his gut
Push him out the tree, he falls right on his nuts
And just like EPMD
I don't like a bitch named J to the A to the N-E

Can't wait to meet her, I'm gonna kill her
'Cause that little mothafuckin' Cheetah can't hang with a gorilla

[Hook: Samples]
VOO-DOO, runnin' from my magic!
Guerillas in Tha Mist
VOO-DOO, runnin' from my magic!
Guerillas in Tha Mist, uh
[Verse 2]
You try to pay me off with a banana (Eh)
But J-Dee is blacker than the city called Atlanta
Give me some elbow room, I need some elbow room
So I can boom shak-a-laka boom
That's the sound of the twenty gauge
Lock us up and the Lench Mob can break out of any cage (Eh)
You never even hear of this, I'm takin' care of this
Lench Mob environmental terrorists
Fuck Grape Ape and Magilla! I'm a killer
Magilla Gorilla, ain't a killer
White boys like Godzilla but my super nigga named King Kong
Played his ass like Ping-Pong

So mothafuckas get ya Ding-Dong
Or the bozack! What's that? Dick and nut sack
Get your butts back from the black fist
Cap peelers, the guerillas in the mist

[Hook: Samples]
VOO-DOO, runnin' from my magic!
Guerillas in Tha Mist
VOO-DOO, runnin' from my magic! (Mastermind Lench Mob)
Guerillas in tha Mist

Eh-Uh Eh
Eh-Uh-Uh
[Verse 3]
Ba-Boom! Here comes a nigga from the dark side
Thinkin' 'bout a brand new apartheid
South Central straight ghetto native
Gotta show these devil motherfuckers what I'm made of
Yes, never smoke the cess
Only hit the Buddha when I'm beatin' on my chest
I'm laying in the cut, I'm laying in the cut
I'm laying in the cut 'bout to shoot me a mutt (With what?)
With the Boom-Ping-Ping!
Listen to the ill shit that I bring bring
Nappy headed jigga, comin' out the mist, the smog
The fog, Ice Cube is my motherfucking dog (Yes)
Kicking mutts, smoking humps
The guerillas rollin' four deep with the bumps
Short Dog got the motherfuckin' pumps
And it's true, T-Bone got the .22
That's how it's done, so you better run yo'
Run yo', run yo', run your ass out the jungle
'Cause hear the guns go and we don't miss
The Lench Mob, the guerillas in tha Mist

[Chorus]
VOO-DOO, runnin' from my magic!
Guerillas in Tha Mist
VOO-DOO, runnin' from my magic!
Guerillas in Tha Mist, uh
VOO-DOO, runnin' from my magic!
Guerillas in Tha Mist
VOO-DOO, runnin' from my magic!
Guerillas in tha Mist
The Pride of Africa (Lench Mob)
Guerillas in tha Mist
The Pride of Africa (Lench Mob)
Guerillas in tha Mist

[Outro]
But just as we humans have not been very kind to each other during our time on this planet, we have not been kind to the mountain gorilla
We persecuted it, kidnapped it for our zoos and shot it just for sports

Genius Annotation

A reference to the 1988 film Gorillas in the Mist, Da Lench Mob uses a very subtle, understated gorilla/ape/primate motif in the song. Some of the references might be hard to spot, but you can catch them if you pay attention.

“Over loops of The Main Ingredient and George Clinton, Da Lench Mob’s ‘Guerillas in the Mist’ sampled the words of L.A.P.D. officer Larry Powell, the policeman who had beaten Rodney King 45 times with his baton. Powell spoke about a call he had received prior to the now famous drunk-driver incident involving King. He described a black family in a domestic incident as being like ‘gorillas in the mist’. Overturning Tarzen’s supremacy in the jungle, Da Lench Mob’s track, produced by Ice Cube, ends with the persecution of African mountain gorillas being used as a metaphor for race war in America.”
