Workin' like a, hmm, reverse archaeologist
Except, his buried treasure was sunshine
This kind of works.
An archaeologist digs up old artifacts from the ground, like how dude is digging upwards towards his own treasure (namely, daylight)
Sunshine is a misleading metaphor for The Streets. As he was entering his new life to repent for his misdeeds, he destroyed his chain that was given to him by The Streets and left it behind. A reverse archaeologist would be one who buries treasure rather than unearthing it.
