To start with, the repetition of ‘echo’ to onomatopoeic effect is rhymed with ‘the sounds of the ghetto’, which has both a literal meaning, and one in which Common pays tribute to his roots. This is then rhymed with an oxymoronic statement of how significant he is within the game.
