Stay a While was composed on the night of a studio recording session, where Pedro was recording Leo Lucca on the drums. Leo showed him a different tuning he was using for some songs of his band, and immediately Pedro got the tuning down, and started writing the harmonies and melodies of the song.
It was actually only on the night that Pedro and Franco were recording Stay a While, that they finished the rest of the lyrics, because until then only the first part was down.
In the end the song mostly says about the longing for something you already had, or in this case, a loved one, taken away by the pandemic.
