The alarm rings, announcing the fight
both sides make strong moves to fortify defense
tension occupies the mind
comfort occupies the bed
But one is behind
For with its spell broken, sleep squirms in protest
to the invading reality that bursts in,
to the invading sea surrounding a plunged head.
A head, that brings meaningless screaming
to the calm of blue depths.
As a last stitch,
Sleep makes its final move
and weight occupies eyelids
but the eyes betray! a fight ensues
the eyes conspire to flutter open,
and as time switches sides as well,
the mind aids the eyes in a final push
to victory!
the mind awakes, the soul sleeps
and body plunges deeper in the sea,
and the dream escapes as a bubble
reaching for the surface
that must again be breached.
