Invasion Lyrics

[Verse 1]
The Vikings are coming
You'd better get ready for we're having a fight
The longboats are coming
They're looking like dragons in the dead of the night

Muster the men from all the villages
You'd better get ready to fight with your enemies

[Verse 2]
Beacons are burning
I'm giving the word to get ready to fight

The battle is nearing
You'd better get ready to fight for your lives
Muster the men from all the villages
You'd better get ready to fight with your enemies

[Pre-Chorus]
The Norsemen are coming
The Norsemen are coming
The warnings are given
The Norsemen are coming
The Norsemen are coming
The Norsemen are coming
The warnings are given
The Norsemen are coming
[Chorus]
Raping and pillaging
Robbing and looting the land
Raping and pillaging
Robbing and looting the land
Viking raiders from afar

[Bridge]
Ohhhh, ohhhh, oh oh ohhhh, ohhh

[Guitar Solo]
[Guitar Solo]

The warnings are given

About

Genius Annotation

This song appeared on The Soundhouse Tapes as the result of the band’s first ever studio experience, in which they also recorded Prowler, Strange World and, of course, Iron Maiden. It later appeared as the B-side for Women in Uniform.

The lyrics are about the Viking invasions of England in the 11th century, a topic the band would return to in another song.
