“After the Fall of Sauron, an Eagle flew to Minas Tirith to announce victory. He predicted the return of the king and the replanting of the White Tree.
The Eagles, servants of Manwë, were Maiar (minor gods), servants of the Valar (greater gods), like the Istari (wizards), Sauron, and Balrogs.
In The Silmarillion, it is said that ‘Spirits in the shape of hawks and eagles flew ever to and from Manwë’s halls; and their eyes could see to the depths of the seas, and pierce the hidden caverns beneath the world.’"
