Just a Stranger Lyrics

[Intro: Kali Uchis]
Dollar bills, dollar bills
Dollar bills, dollar bill
Dollar bills, dollar bill

[Chorus: Steve Lacy & Kali Uchis]
She wants my hundred dollar bills
She don't want love
She wants my hundred dollar bills
She don't want love
She wants my hundreds
Oh, she wants my hundreds

[Verse 1: Kali Uchis]
She's a hurricane
Feel the earth shake
If the devil was asleep she'd knock him wide awake
And if you were her, you never know
I think you'd do it too
But if it takes one to know one
You must not have a clue
(So, come on)
Baby, I don't ever judge, just wanna have a little fun
(Yeah, come on)
No, I won't be here for long, some will say I'm on the run
[Pre-Chorus: Kali Uchis]
Go and say what you want
You are just a stranger
Watching from the bleachers
'Cause you can't take the danger

[Chorus: Steve Lacy & Kali Uchis]
She wants my hundred dollar bills, she don't want love
She wants my hundred dollar bills, she don't want love
She wants my hundreds
(She only want it if it's funded and she want it when she want it)
She wants my hundreds
(She only want it if it's hundreds and she want it in abundance)

[Verse 2: Kali Uchis]
No, you never knew me then
And you'll never know me now
When bellies are hungry, but there ain't no money
You get it and don't care how

Be the one that everyone likes, just approval 'til they die
I'm the one they love to hate, I'm the one who will survive

[Pre-Chorus: Kali Uchis]
Go and say what you want
You are just a stranger
Watching from the bleachers
'Cause you can't take the danger

About

Genius Annotation

“Just a Stranger” marks the second collaboration between Kali Uchis and The Internet’s Steve Lacy, following the 2016 buzz single “Only Girl”. The song was produced by Lacy and BROCKHAMPTON’s Romil Hemnani.

On “Just a Stranger” Kali Uchis assumes the role of a gold-digger trying to seduce a man. However, instead of bashing this character, the Colombian-American singer paints the portrait of a strong and careless woman, breaking stereotypes (much like she did on her previous collaboration with Lacy).

What was it like working with Steve Lacy?
Genius Answer

[Steve’s] just so talented, and I’m really drawn to artists that are similar to me in the sense that they’re very raw and don’t necessarily have classical training or try to conform to any type of musical standards. His music is so fresh, so young. There’s something so innocent about his music. Working with Steve feels like working with my friend who lives down the street from me, and we just end up making something that’s amazing every time.
