Genius Annotation

“Dollar Bills” was the first song pop artist Lady Gaga created, in 1992. The song was written when she was just six years old. Though, it was left forgotten for years until an interview with Anderson Cooper where Gaga showed the music composition of the song (the key of A Major could be seen from the textbook of her interview). She also explained how the song was a big inspiration for “Money” by Pink Floyd.

My dad was listening to what I now know was Pink Floyd’s “Money,” and understanding only the sounds of the cash register in the intro, I wrote a song called "Dollar Bills” on my Mickey Mouse staff paper. The musical notation was of high quality in comparison to the lyrics on the page—none of which were actually spelled correctly. I’ve always had some difficulty saying what I really mean with just words.

The song has since not been released, and no word on it has been shared by Gaga or anyone associated.
