OTL 70: YC the Cynic Excerpt #3 “GNK” Lyrics

YC the Cynic: Well, "GNK", I usually don't like to say it, but stands for "Gods, Niggas, and Kings". My original idea for it was just kinda like the idea that a person of color can walk down the street and be called all three different things by three different people on like the same block. And what it actually means is that there are similarities and there are differences. But what the album turned into was more just like my perspective on the unseen, like things that exist but aren't necessarily seen -- like history and mythological figures and religion. So it turned into a more personal thing than the original concept, but I think it was for the best

How to Format Lyrics:

  • Type out all lyrics, even repeating song parts like the chorus
  • Lyrics should be broken down into individual lines
  • Use section headers above different song parts like [Verse], [Chorus], etc.
  • Use italics (<i>lyric</i>) and bold (<b>lyric</b>) to distinguish between different vocalists in the same song part
  • If you don’t understand a lyric, use [?]
