Quest Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Burning in the questions manifesting in my sacred heart
Surely I can see it now
That I've been drinking from an empty bottle
I used to scramble throught the treasures
Where the pleasure left me cold
Riding golden roads to a closed hole
When the answers came to me
The obvious was hard to hear
The true sizzles
When you prepared to burn then
You can learn a little
Walk through the fire
Or you'll be tossed in the middle
Take a quest in your question

[Bridge]
I been blind for a while
It's fine, it's fine time
I'll be gone for a while
It's time, this time, time

[Verse 2]
I know that I can grow
If I let go of what I know is everything
I can grasp hold of anything
Once I let go of everything

In the dark dark
When one star starts a spark
Illuzions eliminate
Illuminating all
[Bridge 2]
I was blind for a while
But now I'm fine
I was gone for a while
But now I'm fine

A Note From The THEiLLUZION & Ryan Bock:

The process of “Quest” as an entity evolved as so: Lionel “Leson” Lsound wrote, composed & produced the music -which he brought to Salomon Faye. Salomon then wrote the lyrics with conceptual guidance from Lionel, who then brought the project to Ryan “Bockhaus” Bock who translated the song as a whole into a visual piece.

I’ve been working as a creative director for THEiLLUZiON for going on two years now. I specialize in fine art painting and drawing- but I double as an experimental filmmaker and animator. I prefer the older methods of stop motion and hand drawn animation- as I can easily combine elements of drawing and painting into these mediums. “Quest” was created entirely analog- everything you see is physically present under the camera and no digital effects were used to create the imagery.

Everything is simply paint- including the sections featuring the presence of Salomon- though a slightly different technique was applied. I painted each individual frame of the video for these sections- of which there are roughly 900. We decided to use the term “motion painting” in describing “Quest”- coined by German- American artist Oskar Fischinger in 1947. “Quest” was created over a two-month period this past summer in upstate New York.

Salomon and I worked as a team- I animated while he kept track of frames and took the stills to create the video. By working so closely we were able to create a piece that is hopefully more powerful and succinct than if we had worked on our respective units separately. “Quest” was the catalyst for THEiLLUZiON’s last 2 music video releases “Brooklyn NY 11233” and Enasni leber’s “Beasts in my Dreams”, which we decided to drop before “Quest”.
