Do we, do we know
When we fly?

Do we die?

Yeah (It'll be alright)

Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na

[Chorus: Serj Tankian & Daron Malakian]
Do we, do we know
When we fly?
When we, when we go
Do we die?

Yeah

Genius Annotation

“Question!” is the second single off of SOAD’s fourth album Mezmerize. The song rapidly alternates between four different time signatures – 9/16 (during the acoustic sections), 6/8 (during the acoustic interludes and the chorus), 5/8 (between these sections), and 4/4 (during the final chorus) – giving a wildly irregular, yet melodic, rhythm.

The music video for the song features a boy and a girl portrayed in different stages of their lives, onstage as though in a play. In the end, the girl eats berries and dies and the boy grieves her death, before the cycle of life repeats. The concept for the video was proposed by bassist Shavo Odadjian.

The song could be interpreted as the pondering of the afterlife, or the possibilities of reincarnation. He is wondering if our life completely ends when we physically die, or if our spirit remains.
