First off, what’s he trying to say is that he is the one instrumental to his success – as in, he’s self made and credits only himself to where is now. Instead, he says that he’s detrimental, meaning he’s harmful to his success (which is actually quite true given Bieber’s recent troubles).
Even though Bieber may not want to admit it, Usher was definitely instrumental to JB’s success – after Scooter Braun discovered Justin on Youtube (which Bieber acknowledges), he was signed to Raymond Braun Media Group, a joint venture between Braun and Usher.
