I initially wanted the Wolves to take Russell but changed my mind around two weeks before the draft. KAT is the most surefire pick in the draft, but the opportunity to hit a home run (potentially the next Steph Curry) was available as well. I didn’t want Okafor’s bad D or terrible free throw shooting getting anywhere near the squad, though he’ll certainly be a good points/rebound player for the forseeable future.

I don’t really hear anyone moaning about that move anymore. Thad was a decent player on a bad team but if we’re being honest with ourselves, he wasn’t going to be a part of the team when they finally turn into contenders. Most have accepted that, yet hold onto Kevin Martin as if he’s a surefire starter. I’m convinced those people only look at the boxscore and don’t actually watch the poor shot selection/terrible defense.

Not only that, it meant that Towns didn’t have to guard Dwight Howard. This helped out the team so Towns didn’t see any unnecessary fouls, and he didn’t have to deal with Howard’s stingy defense on the block. Karl-Anthony Towns Needs More Time At Power Forward

This is the reason we need to see more of KAT/Dieng and/or KAT/Pek lineups. Towns' efficiency this year has been crazy good but his overall numbers would be a lot higher if he wasn’t consistently in foul trouble. It’s really the only major fault of his game, which as a 20 year old rookie is rather phenomenal. Over time he’ll certainly learn what NBA officials will allow and he’ll be stronger and more able to defend without fouling but lineups that better suit his strengths are great solutions for the time being. He’s clearly the ROY over Okafor thus far.

I detest John Calipari as much as anyone but this is ridiculous. I clicked on this article thinking they actually had a violation of substance because of Drake. Getting in trouble for taking a photo is a little ridiculous. Still waiting for the next real scandal with Calipari to happen, but where’s he going to run to next? Back to the NBA? He can’t really get to a more high profile basketball school.

A poignant look at the common ground between the American Left and Right, in the context of the standoff in Burns with the Oregon militia (who have been called anything from “protesters”, to “terrorists”, to “Y'allQaeda” and “Vanilla ISIS” among others).

The Left has largely opposed the movement because of the way it has been handled – a group of armed white men have taken over government property and remain in control. Many have speculated that the result would not be the same had it been by POC.

eh :/ not really feeling this article (for one, it misuses the terms “red tribe” and “blue tribe”, a pet peeve of mine)

From a more serious standpoint, this article doesn’t at all address the real concerns behind the left’s so-called “savaging” of the terrorists—the way police react to armed white protestors with exponentially less violence then they react to unarmed black protestors.

So no, when 3 white men run afoul of the mandatory minimum sentencing structure that tens of thousands of people have lost their lives to—and they react to it with an armed hostile takeover of federal property, then I’m not really inclined to circle the wagons around them.

And anyway, why the hell are we equating armed, violent takeovers with nonviolent protests? Its completely a false equivalence to say that people on the left should support Bundy because they might also hate sentencing minimums—I also hate religious violence being perpetrated against girls who try to get an education, but that doesn’t mean I have to support the war in afghanistan.

This is Bill Burr’s new animated series. I don’t know why I waited this long to start watching it but I’ve been pretty consumed by school and basketball (Timberwolves and Gophers) hence the big gap since early October. I actually haven’t watched any movies or read any books (in full) since then so I really need to turn that around this winter.

The series is a lot darker than I imagined, even though I’ve been hearing him talk about it on his podcast for months. I would only recommend it to certain people.
