A eon is a word used to indicate an era or a long period of time; Watch The Throne marks the beginning of Ye and Hova’s third era.

The first was in 2000-2001: Kanye was just putting his name out there and Hova was at the top of his game; Ye helped Jay produce Blueprint and The Dynasty: Roc La Familia which gave him his first gold plaque with “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)” and a big reputation as a producer.

The second era starts in 2003, with the release of Jay Z’s farewell project The Black Album and Kanye’s debut LP The College Dropout which would be followed by two more classics in Late Registration and Graduation.

The third one started in 2010 with the release of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Watch The Throne in 2011 which would then be followed by Magna Carta… Holy Grail by Jay Z and Yeezus by Kanye, two extremely polarizing albums respectively for their marketing strategy and their sound.

A mix of pianos and strings in the intro of Primetime set the tone for one of the best tracks on the record. No I.D. delivers a really deep and soft paced beat that is in complete juxtaposition with the previous track, H.A.M..
