Lupe’s line also utilizes the literal meanings of “mason” and “templar”:

• Mason: a skilled worker who builds by laying units of substantial material
• Templar: A lawyer or student of law having chambers in Temple, London.

As a result, this line is a very flexible one:

• Lupe is a winner due to his mason mind, able to build great structures (raps) with words. However, he can’t work if the law is on his case, assisting him due to an angle they have. The same applies for if a Templar is attempting to coerce him, they obviously want something so he won’t accept their help.
• He can’t work with secret societies the same way they can’t work with one another
