I sold my PS4 because one night I had a self-aware moment and realized I couldn’t keep staying up until 5 AM in my boxers playing the Witcher 3 but not actually doing story missions.

On the PC I love Crusader Kings 2 and Civilzation 5 though. Any 4X game I will play at least once, any space-based 4X game I will obsessively play if its any good.

Kevin McCarthy gave Clinton a blank check after admitting that the Benghazi Committee was created to hurt Clinton.

Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee, a select committee, what are her numbers today?

…

Her numbers are dropping, why? Because she’s untrustable. But no one would have known any of that had happened.

Whatever he meant, she now has free reign to say that the email scandal is a farce and anyone feeding it is drinking the Kool-Aid.

For every 100,000 people in the US, there are 698 in jail.

We have around one-fourth the population of China, but an incarceration rate five times as high.

We have 2.22 million people in jail versus their 1.65 million. Something is broken.

While Bernie Sanders was the founder of the progressive caucus, Hillary Clinton was one of the most prominent members of the Democratic Leadership Council.

The DLC was founded largely to “exterminate the progressives,” deemed to be responsible for the three successive general election losses to Republican nominees.

Earlier this year, Chafee made a similar claim that

He actually dedicated an entire section of his 1819 “A Philosophical View of Reform” to Thomas Robert Malthus. The first sentence (the longest I’ve ever seen) is done no justice by the simple “eunuch and a tyrant” remark:

A writer of the present day (a priest of course, for his doctrines are those of a eunuch and of a tyrant) has stated that the evils of the poor arise from an excess of population, and after they have been stript naked by the tax-gatherer and reduced to bread and tea and fourteen hours of hard labour by their masters, and after the frost has bitten their defenceless limbs, and the cramp has wrung like a disease within their bones, and hunger and the suppressed revenge of hunger has stamped the ferocity of want like the mark of Cain upon their countenance, that the last tie by which Nature holds them to the benignant earth whose plenty is garnered up in the strongholds of their tyrants, is to be divided; that the single alleviation of their sufferings and their scorns, the one thing which made it impossible to degrade them below the beasts, which amid all their crimes and miseries yet separated a cynical and unmanly contamination, an anti-social cruelty, from all the soothing, elevating and harmonious gentleness of the sexual intercourse and the humanizing charities of domestic life which are its appendages—that this is to be obliterated.

Then again, part of the magic of the printed book is the set of experiences we associate with it.

Frantically trying not to bend it too much, dog-ears, notes and margin scribbles, suddenly realizing it’s 5 AM and you haven’t had lunch or dinner, etc.
