This shot is used in both the introduction and conclusion of the pilot. In this episode, we are led to believe they are not only connected to the Men in Black that follow Elliot but also Tyrell Wellick, the Senior VP of Technology at Evil Corp.

Spoiler

This also serves to help establish Elliot as an unreliable narrator.

At first we believe the Men in Black–“the conspiracy”–might be real when we see him followed throughout the episode. Then Krista asks him whether he still hallucinates Men in Black following him, casting doubt on his claim to us. Then he’s taken off the street by Men in Black, only for them to be revealed as Tyrell’s underlings.

This is similar to the “broke/rich nigga racism” that Kanye raps about in “New Slaves”

You see it’s broke nigga racism
That’s that “Don’t touch anything in the store”
And it’s rich nigga racism
That’s that “Come in, please buy more

The difference between the experience of Kanye and Lil B however is that Lil B is not experiencing or commenting on racism, instead he’s complaining that people in this world are too eager to take advantage of others.

That issue, however, is a key part of the “broke/rich nigga racism” where race only matters when someone thinks you will cause them to lose/make money.

The last time Iran invaded another country was over 200 years ago.

A reasonable objection to this fact would be “well if Iraq was weak enough or aggressive enough, Iran would invade it”.

The only problem is that has already come to pass and Iran did not invade Iraq. In the 1980s, Saddam Hussein was so weak that it was unable to conquer Iran despite the aid of the United States and an arsenal of chemical weapons. Furthermore, Iran never went into Iraq’s territory and maintained a defensive military posture for the war’s duration.

In 2010, a Pentagon report revealed that

Iran is developing technological capabilities applicable to nuclear weapons and, at a minimum, is keeping open the option to develop nuclear weapons, if it chooses to do so. […] Iran’s military strategy is designed to defend against external or ‘hard’ threats from the United States and Israel. Iran’s principles of military strategy include deterrence, asymmetrical retaliation, and attrition warfare. Iran’s nuclear program and its willingness to keep open the possibility of developing nuclear weapons is a central part of its deterrent strategy. Iran can conduct limited offensive operations with its strategic ballistic missile program and improved naval forces.

So as usual Trump is just saying things out loud.

During the past two decades, the Trump foundation has made charitable contributions totaling a paltry $6.7 million.

Now let’s give Donald Trump the benefit of the doubt, for no reason at all, and assume he meant political contributions. Maybe he’s given “hundreds of millions of dollars” to both Republicans and Democrats.

Well he’s actually only given $1.5 million to both parties. In fact, if you dig, it gets a little more interesting.

From 1989 to 2011 he donated $497,690 to Republicans and $581,350 to Democrats. From 2012 to the present, he’s given $463,450 to Republicans and $3,500 to Democrats.

This is actually one of Trump’s more reasonable positions–namely because it’s feasible. The Social Security Administration itself has put forth a comprehensive plan to save the government program.

At its root, it calls for increasing the payroll tax cap, using more reliable CPI metrics, tying retirement age to life expectancy, and still manages to keep the program solvent while expanding it for the next 75 years.
