Mark Twain was on the verge of inventing (discovering?) gettiers in the late 1800s!!

Of course this is more of a GETTIERESQUE situation than an outright gettier, but it’s pretty close..

Anyway further validates my previously-tenuous 2016 Halloween costume: Alternate History Mark Twain Who Went Back in Time and Invented Gettiers.

Rather than just repetition for effect, each “stop” refers to a different thing; “stop [the bus], to stop [pause for a moment], to stop thinking of you”

Alternatively it could be part of a triple negative that underscores how much the narrator has turned this issue over in his head. I.e., he stopped thinking of her, and then he stopped stopping (started thinking of her again), and now he is trying to once again stop.

When Winwood heard the track, he was so impressed that he re-recorded the vocals to fit the track better.

The iconic “Call on Me” music video features women doing aerobics in a sexually suggestive manner.
