The hook of the song hammers in the general concept behind it with as much description as we do in our own media. America has an obsession with sex, its in everything we do from commercials to movies. However we still cling to our morals and ethical beliefs that see sex as dangerous and forbidden which creates a sort of taboo for it in national media. To get around this, many sexual innuendos have developed over the years to discretely explain to the user that sex is involved.

The first one being one of the more obvious examples, a train representing the penis and the entrance to the tunnel representing a vagina…

The next being again, a long object such as a rocket representing the penis and the moon representing a woman’s womanhood. Basically anything can be turned into innuendo once your mind enters a dirty place. Such are the following examples.

This was by far my most played song of the year. It was also my introduction to Curly Castro who has become one of my favorite new artists. The hauntingly unique production played well with the lyricism revolving racism. It told a definitive story about the struggles of racial identity both Castro and Has-Lo had to grow up with and sums up the whole song with a hauntingly outdated chorus sample.

Aesop Rock and A$AP Rocky are both NY born and raised MC’s that came up in different time periods. Aesop Rock (Born Ian Matthias Bavitz in 1976) released his first project Music For Earthworms in 1997 and A$AP Rocky (born Rakim Mayers in 1988) released his first project Live. Love. ASAP in 2011.

While they both inhabit the same genre of music, Aesop Rock and A$AP Rocky are examples of two opposites of the spectrum in Hip Hop. Aesop Rock uses a dense style of wording and imagery to create a mood set to production that is often rock and folk inspired. A$AP Rocky uses a more direct approach to lyricism focusing on similes and punchlines but with a more mainstream production value which has brought him commercial success.

The only thing that links these two artists is their name and how it slightly sounds alike. Many Aesop Rock fans try and contend that A$AP Rocky is a thief to try and misplace their distain for other subgenres of hip hop by creating beef while A$AP Rocky listeners just mock that Aesop Rock isn’t as successful as A$AP Rocky so they shouldn’t care. In the end it was and still is a battle between the fans.

The two rappers actually did meet and both have nothing but love for each other, you can check that below!

Back in the 90s many popular rappers sold drugs before they were able to get a record deal in order to survive. Those experiences became a staple in their musical performance and inspired those listeners that would become the next generation. However, that next generation of artists sees the act of selling drugs as a right of passage or something to add to one’s reputation rather than a necessity to survive.

It’s become cool to be bad, even those who have made bank off their music are still selling drugs because they want to look like the gangsters of the past era.

In our modern society, we mock and stalk reality stars and promiscuous celebrities for their faults and stumbles, all the while we praise them for what we identify as faults in others but exploit them for entertainment without realizing the repercussions it has on society.

This forces those with potential to lead the world out of this dismal state to leave and try and find a place for themselves somewhere that they can relate to instead of trying to fix the issues we have now.

Icarus is a Greek mythological figure who was the son of the master craftsman Daedalus. As the story goes, Icarus attempted to use wings his father had made to escape from the city of Crete. While the wings did in fact work, Icarus ignored his father’s instructions and flew too high. This brought him too close to the sun, which burned his wax wings and doomed his escape.

Illogic is making a contrast between Icarus and modern society. Our technological advancements (mainly concerning how we handle food) has taken great strives but at the same time has backfired on us because we don’t know our own limits. Resulting in bad nutrition and bad health in exchange for convenience.
