A color patented by Hov, this was the brainchild of marketing guru Steve Stoute, as you’ll see further down in this story.
Fitting, because “Empire State of Mind” is the title of the book for which I was interviewing Serch.
You should have heard him! He was royally peeved.
Remember “No Way Out”?
Jay-Z has been popping up on Forbes.com with increasing frequency since 2007. Most recent: a video interview with Steve Forbes and Warren Buffett.
He’s also the subject of an unauthorized biography written by a Forbes staffer (yours truly).
Jay-Z is not only drinking champagne, but making money off of it.
Diddy’s actually wrong here — first time he had his face on the Forbes was in 1999, alongside Jerry Seinfeld.
Actually, Zack, I think Diddy means in 1994 he did it, as in Bad Boy’s success with Biggie’s first album. Might need a comma — “Face on the Forbes, in ‘94 I did it”
Having this guy around also helped.
Diddy is reiterating the fact that the three rappers on this song are worth a truckload of money — over $1 billion, to be exact.
