In case you were wondering what the best factual correction in an article of all time (of all time!) is, here you go. A close second is this gem from The Guardian,

In our interview with Sir Jack Hayward, the chairman of Wolverhampton Wanderers, page 20, Sport, yesterday, we mistakenly attributed to him the following comment: “Our team was the worst in the First Division and I’m sure it’ll be the worst in the Premier League.” Sir Jack had just declined the offer of a hot drink. What he actually said was “Our tea was the worst in the First Division and I’m sure it’ll be the worst in the Premier League.” Profuse apologies.

The second film to ever reach $1 billion in revenue, The Return of the King joined Titanic for back-to-back billion-dollar Best Picture winners. Sweeping all 11 categories for which it was nominated, it also ties Titanic and Ben-Hur for the most wins of all time. The only major criticism about the film, which remains a canonical achievement in how to use special effects to enhance a film (looking at you, Michael Bay), is its running time of 201 minutes. Looking at the four other films it was up against, only Lost in Translation came close to its critical acclaim.

The Hawks have made the playoffs each of the last seven years, yes, but twice with a sub-.500 record and never emerging from the Conference Semifinals. Playoffs in the East are nothing like those in the West. The Warriors have seen the playoffs three times in the last twenty seasons. Experience is everything at the latter end of series.

One of the best articles about the late career of Cam'ron as a basketball player is this Purple Haze-evoking “He Does The Recruiting”, penned by Hua Hsu for Grantland. For any serious Killa fan, we all know the story: promising basketball recruit hindered not only by faltering grades, but also by a missed game-winning 3-pointer in the city title game at Madison Square Garden. Cam himself always notes this as a reason for the turn towards rap.
