The White House’s hashtag response was a lighthearted way to address the situation, but it doesn’t address the underlying gravity of the context. As Slate’s Jamelle Boule incredibly wrote,

The best answer, I think, lies in identity. By choice as much as birth, Obama is a black American. And black Americans, more than most, have a complicated relationship with our country. It’s our home as much as it’s been our oppressor: a place of freedom and opportunity as much as a source of violence and degradation.

If Jeb runs, don’t be surprised if Agnew takes the necessary steps to be legally able to join Bush’s team. With the millennial vote becoming more crucial in every election, finding one of their fold to reach out to them is something every serious campaign needs.

To see content on these two websites, it’s necessary for users to somehow approve of the other’s inclusion into their feeds. Therefore, the difficulties of truly reaching millennials with their content arises: they almost have to support Jeb to find out why they’d like to support Jeb.

Politicians and their supporters are yet to figure out how to use Snapchat for their benefit. As The Washington Post simply put it,

Politicians signing up to use Snapchat is about as politically meaningful as kissing a digital baby

Now, with the many new updates on Snapchat since that article, politicians theoretically have the ability to sponsor their stories on the app. It’s unclear, though, if a youth-directed start-up company would be excited about showing Republican-directed ads.

These issues are hardly those that millennials find too pressing, job growth aside. Results from the Pew Research Center’s massive Millennials in Adulthood survey finds little truly galvanizing millennials, save for economic prospects for their own future and myriad social issues. For a Republican candidate, their best bet is to show themselves progressive in terms of a free Internet, and draw in millennials from there.
