Section 8 is a federal program of subsidized housing that provided funding for poor residents who lived in housing projects; the projects in Chicago (Cabrini-Green) were particularly notorious. Common is repping his “section” (i.e. his neighborhood or set), which is common for rappers, but does it ironically by claiming allegiance to a provision of the federal housing code.
