Learn what is love about
When you can't live with her and you can't live without
J. Cole is paraphrasing the adage “neither with bad things nor without them” (more commonly expressed as “women: can’t live with them, can’t live without them”) to show the dichotomy of love; whilst it can cause immense pain, it is also the single greatest pleasure in life. It’s similar to the eponymous lines in Tyler, the Creator’s track IFHY.
The Her Cole is referring to is again a double entrende, with the second being the rap game. Cole went through an extremely depressing time writing this album, and it caused immense pressure, but it’s worth it for the fans and he loves making music that people will enjoy.
