At least we try for home run every time
Every time Drake and this girl see each other, they try to conduct the full sexual act.
The term “home run” is a famous baseball metaphor for sex, just like:
- First base — Mouth-to-mouth kiss; French kissing
- Second base — Kissing and touching erogenous zones
- Strikeout — Failure to engage in any form of sexual activity
But, It’s more than that. This isn’t one of Drake’s songs so much about sex, as it is about love. Drake is saying that even though they can never make the relationship work, they at least try for the best every time. This leads to the hook, where swangin' is a metaphor for them constantly “swinging away,” trying for the home run of a perfect relationship but striking out every time.
