Nobody will fall cause everyone will be each others crutches
from Jay-Z (Ft. Mecca) – Feelin' It Lyrics on Rap Genius
There’s a pervasive notion in rap that if you make it rich, you are obligated to take care of your friends and family: everybody is obligated to support everybody else if possible (doesn’t that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside?)
Again, the idea is that the common triggers to a crew’s downfall, jealousy, envy, etc. will be neutralized if everyone is taken care of. As a result, if someone falls on hard times, the others will come to his aid as opposed to trying to take what little he has left. Also, snitching and back stabbing are less likely if everyone is rich and can depend on one another
This idea is also implied in Jadakiss’s “Why them dudes ain’t ridin' if they part of your set?” (from “Why”)
