This whole section of the hook — “this diamond, my diamond; this rock, my rock” should be considered as one lyric, as it’s also a reference to “Independent Women Pt. 1, to wit: “I buy my own diamonds and I buy my own rings” and “This rock I’m rocking, I bought it, cos I depend on me”. The diamond is her diamond, the rock (/Roc) is her rock. This connects back to the “Don’t think I’m just his little wife/Don’t get it twisted/This my shit” earlier in the track/Bow Down, and she gestures to her ring in the film clip when she sings this lyric:
Though maybe the diamond Bey is referring to is probably her daughter, Blue Ivy.
